PRESIDENT HORTA SHARES DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCES FROM U.A.E. MINISTER OF TOLERANCE

President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, considers his meeting with the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence(MTC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, to be a friendly meeting to exchange opinions and experiences on the development process and national unity of the UAE Federal Government, which has been strong until today.
The Head of State also explained that the UAE is open to the world to attract investors to work with the Government to further develop the Emirates and the region.
However, he also emphasized that the UAE government has established MTC with the objective of ensuring that everyone in the country, including foreigners, can live, work, and be respected, especially in Abu Dhabi.
According to President Horta, as a result of this visit, he hopes to get support from the UAE to mobilize investors to invest in Timor-Leste, which will create more jobs, but the Timorese Head of State stressed that it “depends on the Government’s preparedness to receive investors.”
The meeting, which took place in the city of Abu Dhabi on 17 October 2023, was also attended by UAE diplomats abroad, including the President of the UAE Federal Parliament Council.
After the meeting, the Head of State and his delegation, including the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for ASEAN Affairs, Milena Rangel, continued their visit to the Abrahamic Family House Museum and the Louvre Abu Dhabi to visit the collections, including the Catholic chapel, mosque, and Buddhist monastery, symbols of religious tolerance in the world to create human fraternity.
With this visit to the museum, Head of State Horta concludes his official visit to Abu Dhabi (UAE), which took place from 12 to 18 October, and will continue his official visit to Saudi Arabia.
