The President of the Republic J. Ramos-Horta has swearing in Brigadier General José da Costa Soares ”Trix” as Major-Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces F-FDTL at the Presidential Palace.
Brigadier General José da Costa Soares ”Trix” was sworn in as the Major-Chief of Staff of the F-FDTL to replace the Sixth Major-Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Rear Admiral Donaciano do Rosário Gomes “Pedro Klamar Fuik”, who has now assumed the position of Minister of Defense in the IX Constitutional Government.
President J. Ramos-Horta said in his speech that “This change in leadership will bring dynamism and greater adaptability to the services in the armed forces to face the challenges of the present and the future, in accordance with the mission attributed to them by the Constitution of the RDTL, especially in an operating environment that depends on the national integrated system to strengthen friendly cooperation with neighboring and regional countries.”
Major-Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General José da Costa Soares ”Trix” pledged to work to strengthen the F-FDTL institution. “My commitment is to contribute to the strengthening of general planning and coordination of activities under the responsibility of the Major Major-Chief of Staff of the F-FDTL, in order to further dynamize operational services.”
