In a demonstration of support for cultural exchange for strengthen reconciliation initiatives, President José Ramos-Horta visited the ongoing Festival Fronteira 2023, taking the opportunity to engage with local artisans and immerse himself in the vibrant cultural tapestry of the event.
Accompanied by Secretary of State for Art and Culture, Jorge Soares Cristovão, and Executive Director of the National Cultural Centre (CNC), Hugo Maria Fernandes, President Ramos-Horta strolled through the bustling stands of the Festival, admiring the craftsmanship and artistry on display.
With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for local artistry, President Ramos-Horta made several purchases of handicrafts and local products, showcasing his support for the preservation and promotion of Timor-Leste’s cultural heritage.
Held under the theme “Cultural Exchange for Peacebuilding,” the Festival Fronteira 2023 serves as a platform for fostering stronger ties between Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Through the sharing of stories, history, and cultural traditions, the Festival aims to promote mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between the two neighboring nations.
