President Ramos-Horta Promotes Waste Recycling At The Presidential Palace

Tve-T Dili, April 24, 2024 – President Jose Ramos-Horta is encouraging an awareness campaign on waste recycling at the Presidential Palace. As such, the Women’s Economic Empowerment Unit of the Presidency has organized a socialization activity together with the Caltech Company team today.

The main objective is to educate the staff at the Presidency, including the cleaning staff from the PAX Service, about proper waste disposal and promote the practices of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3Rs). The staff will learn how to manage their waste starting from their own homes, and now they can also practice this within the Presidency area where large waste bins will be placed close to the parking area of the Presidential Palace.

As part of this awareness program, Caltech also showcases their various products made from recycled materials. This Recycled Product exhibit aims to demonstrate the potential and value in transforming waste into useful items, in addition to reducing waste in our country.

Furthermore, Caltech will install Recycling Bins at the Palace as planned to facilitate all staff and visitors to start this good practice. President Ramos-Horta hopes that this initiative will instill good waste management practices that staff can continue and spread throughout the nation.
