After participating in the opening ceremony of the 8th World Investment Forum, the Head of State and his delegation continued their visit to the Parliament of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to meet with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and the UAE, particularly in the areas of politics and economics.
“The Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE has expressed his willingness to visit Timor-Leste, and I have invited him to do so. He has expressed his sympathy for Timor and his support for the Federal Government’s initiatives to help Timor-Leste,” said the Head of State.
Looking to the future, the Head of State instructed the parliamentary group and the government, represented by the Vice Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuady Lay, who accompanied him to the meeting, to coordinate with the Timorese Parliament to draft a formal invitation to the Federal National Council of the UAE to visit Timor-Leste as part of the country’s diplomacy.
The Head of State also expressed his appreciation for the participation in the event at the Federal National Council of the UAE, which was a significant achievement for Timor-Leste.
